Unit Conversions

Whilst most people are aware of the more common units for measurement of length, mass etc such as the kilometre and mile, kilogram and pound, etc, there are a very large number of less common units such as the slug and glug.
The separate linked pages offer conversions between many of these common and uncommon units. Whilst some tuits have been expended in checking conversion factors, errors may well be lurking herein - you use them at your own risk!
If your favourite [and preferably] obscure unit is missing, please let me know by sending me an email with a link to a reputable source. No source, no inclusion! Please also let me know if you happen to find an error in any of the conversions. Send the email to pedt (at) terra-fied (dot) org (dot) uk

One use of uncommon units is to make conversions into strange combinations - as long as you remember that you can only convert between units of the same type then all sorts of strange combinations can be obtained. A few are given below.
1 barn yard atmosphere = 9.2e-17 erg
1 Watt of power = 3 slug furlongs per day
1 GigaWatt = 385.4 pondspans per blink
1 mile per hour = 14.108 megaspats per eon
Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 4.506 nails per millenium wink
